Why Quebec?
Though we are beginning to see change, Quebec is still the most unreached corner of North America, even surpassing most European countries in terms of being a mission field and its need for the gospel to take root. (There are more Christians per-capita in Egypt than in Quebec.)
Quebec is somewhat unique in the Western world as it is both post-Christendom (meaning it was once ruled by the church, Catholic in this case) and very much opposed to the church, and yet at the same time Quebec is pre-Gospel, meaning there has NEVER been any period of time in Quebec’s history where the Gospel was clearly preached and understood by the majority of the population.
This makes for a mission environment that is both extremely challenging
but at the same time presents an enormous opportunity. We’ve found that once we get past the secular barriers that the Boomer generation erected against Catholicism and cult movements, the true gospel is astonishing to Quebecers.
Even now we are seeing some from the younger generations (Gen X-ers and Millennials) returning to the church ON THEIR OWN in search of something that was lost by their parents. We want to plant churches in every region of Montreal and Quebec, that they might find clear preaching of the Gospel of grace, a kingdom community they can belong to, and that we might equip & send them as missionaries to their own people, as well as other French-speaking nations around the world.
We want to see Quebec go from being least-reached to most-reached over the next 35 years.
And for our family, this mission has already begun. We’ve actually been in Quebec for some time now, seeking to help bring this about. You can tap below to learn more about the story of how we got here, as well as as read our latest updates!
